Victoria Estrella Worch 38 years old

Mrs. Worch

Our Wedding Day had the bluest skies, the warmest smiles, the sweetest music, the most beautiful flower center pieces, and the greatest love I have ever known. It was the happiest day of my life. Now I know when people say it was the happiest day of their life. What more could I ask for then to spend the day with my closest friends, dance with my dad, laugh with my new and old family and say I promise to love you in good times and in bad, in sickness and in health to Matthias Worch. My favorite part was looking into his eyes during the wedding ceremony. I feel in love with him all over again.

I want to send tons of thank you to my amazing loving parents, Patty and Michael Estrella. With their help, support and guidance, they gave us the most beautiful wedding day. With love, thank you!

To Miss, my sister, Maid of Honor and now a best friend, I miss you already. Your creativity, empathy and love gave Matthias and me the best wedding two people could ask for. We love you!

To Kristina, Marta and Maria, the most beautiful bridesmaids ever!! It meant so much to go through this experience with you. I will always remember the limo ride, spending the day getting ready and all that dancing!! Gracias!!

To Klaus, Alice and Guido, thank you for sharing your love and welcoming me in to your family. I feel honor to now be Victoria Worch.

To Amy Merkel, our wedding coordinator, you rock!! Amy remembered everything from offering us a drink when we arrived at the reception, to keeping the photographer on track, along with making sure our wedding presents were safe inside. She had everything under control. Amy, with great appreciation, we thank you!

And a special thank you to everyone who shared the day with us. It was a blast!! We hope to see you soon!

As you wish..

I realized tonight that when I was a little girl, I never dreamed of my wedding dress or the place I would get married. I always dreamed that I would watch wedding movies the week of my wedding. On Monday, I watched Sweet Home Alabama. Tonight I am watching The Princess Bride…now if I could only find my copy of Father of the Bride.

Wedding Movies

Wow..the final week is here. I am soo ready to start watching wedding movies. Last Friday night we started with Wedding Crashers. Loved it! I was so surprised. I did not realize how funny those two were. With 2 days left before the future in-laws arrive I must make time to watch a few classic wedding movies: Father of the Bride, Steel Magnolias and Muppets Take Manhattan.

Hey, if you have a favorite, please share.

Random thoughts

I had a nice weekend. Matthias and I watched knocked up, finished the first draft of the wedding program and even made it out to my church’s 40th anniversary party. Through out the weekend, I caught up with friends and family on the phone. We had some really good conversations. From those talks, I am left thinking tonight these random thoughts:

-What are my core beliefs? Am I willing to share them with people?
-Have I thought about the day after? There will always be one.
-When was the last time I was present with someone? Where I was not thinking about anything else but what they were saying? I bet you can think of someone who was present with you. It is so hard. For me, my Dad always seems present when I talk to him.

Needs, wants, vision

Hey Tira and Shauna, your blogging has inspired me to write some goals. Knowing when to focus is key to success.
I need to focus and finish the wedding program, the DJ list and the wording for the Student Rep. Fee.

I want to focus on share meals with friends, having my office retreat where we can finish planning out the 07-08 school year, and making time to play dice with Matthias

My goals for the next week and half is to have at least 80% of clubs turning in their paperwork in, most important projects and reports turned in, and I have shared at least 3 meals with friends.

My real goal over the next few weeks is to laugh, love and enjoy the excitement of friends and family coming for the big day.

Welcome Fall

Through the power of sound, Sandy lead our fall equinox group in a healing meditation using a large bowl made out of courts crystal. The theme of Circle was balance. I asked for balance with the wedding and becoming married. During the meditation, she asked to repeat in our mind and in our hearts the following words of healing. As you welcome fall into your life, I encourage you to turn off the t.v., music; maybe event take a walk and say these words. Your intention to heal a friend, family member or yourself, will be heard. Bless it be.

“Be well

Free from suffering

Peace”

Real World ASB Retreat

This year’s ASB Fall Overnight Leadership Retreat was a huge hit. I have to share the great theme the students came up with. They went with a reality television theme. The workshops were titled “Real World” Breaking Barriers, Americans Next Top Leader, Fear Factor on the Beach and Surreal Life. For breaking barriers, the students watched Babel and had an amazing post film discussion. I lead the America’s Next Top Leader workshop using StenghtsFinder. Then we went out to the beach for some Fear Factor team building. Hey, got to love those water balloon fights. To top if off, we had a Surreal Life workshop were students scheduled out the events for the 2007-2008 school year. They created one surreal school year. Special props go out to Susana, Lora and Greg for planning an excellent retreat.

My favorite part was staying up late to play Taboo and officially becoming known as “too old”, “A generation out” advisor. The word I had was “Toad”. So..I said “Blank the Wet Sprocket”. They all yelled, “Move on. No one knows”. Got to love it! Here we are only 10 years older and already old school…sweet!! Anyone up for playing Duck Hunt?

Music and Memories

As I was finishing my strengths development paper tonight, an old favorite song came through my itune shuffle. It was “The Prize Fighter” by The Velvet Teen. The Velvet Teen was my favorite local emo band. If you ask Marta, I dragged her to so many emo shows. What made The Velvet Teen so much fun to see live was our good friend Logan Whitehurst, the drummer. Marta and I went to Sonoma State with him. He was in my one of my core seminar classes. The last time I saw him perform with the band was back in February 2004 in a small club in San Francisco. Some time later I heard he found a brain tumor and was taking a break from the band.

After finishing my paper, I decided to go on YouTube and see if I could find a Velvet Teen video. Sure enough, “The Prize Fighter” popped up. As I read the latest comments, I notice someone leave this comment, “The original drummer (Logan Whitehurst) died of brain cancer and the bass guitarist/back-up vocalist (Joshua Staples) left to work on another project (The New Trust)…”  I searched some more to find he died December 3rd, 2006.

Just like that, a song took me back in time AND woke me out of my state of daily life.

I hope you enjoy the video. It’s a great song with an amazing, talented person.
